Town Parks Local Law #2
Adopted March 8, 2000
Re: Vehicles and property damage
This Local Law covers the issues of motorized vehicle use in the
Town Parks and Property Damage in the Town Parks.
- The Parks are for the enjoyment and use of the residents of the
Town of New Scotland and their guests.
- Parking is only allowed in designated areas. All illegally parked
vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense. Overnight parking is not
allowed in the parks.
- Motorized vehicles must remain in the parking areas. Any person
that parks or drives a motorized vehicle on to the grass or playing
areas will be in violation of this law.
- The speed limit within the parks in 5 miles per hour.
- No person shall operate or bring into any park or have in his
or her possession control while within the park any power drive
off-the-road or all-terrain vehicles, whether on wheels, tracks,
skis, air-supported or a combination of of the foregoing.
- In addition to the above, all motor vehicles must be operated
in conformance with all applicable vehicle and traffic law of New
York State.
- The Town of New Scotland will not be responsible for loss, damage
or theft to cars and their contents.
- No person shall damage, deface, remove or destroy any trees,
shrubs, turf or any material or substance; or remove or destroy
any structure, building, sign or equipment, real or personal, owned
by the Town.
Penalties
Any person convicted of a violation of the Local Law shall be subject
to a fine not to exceed $250.00 (two hundred fifty dollars and 00/100)
and/or imprisonment not to exceed 15 (fifteen) days. Additionally,
any person convicted of a violation of this Local Law may be responsible
to compensate the Town for damage to the Park as a result of the
violation. Any person convicted of a violation of the Local Law shall
lose his or her privileges to use the Parks for a period of five years.
Each violation of the Local Law is punishable as a separate offense.
